In May 2026, Savage hosted two guest lectures at Guilford Park High School focused on how algebra is applied in real-world settings at the quarry.
The presentations helped students connect classroom concepts to practical applications in the mining and construction industries.
Following the lectures, Savage hosted a bus tour of the quarry, giving students the opportunity to observe the site’s operations firsthand and witness a controlled blast, providing a memorable, hands-on learning experience that demonstrated how mathematics, science, and engineering are used in everyday quarry operations.
